A lightning strike to the electrical supply gets the blame for a fire at a Tecumseh Road East gas station.
Crews were called just after 4pm to the Petro Canada at Tecumseh Road East and Benjamin and braved a thunderstorm to extinguish a fire that was burning the building’s electrical system.
A witness told windsoriteDOTca thick smoke was billowing out of the convenience store building before firefighters arrived.
Firefighters located and extinguished the blaze within minutes.
The fire was not near the station’s gas pumps.
Damage is set at $80,000 to the building and $45,000 to the contents of the building.
No injuries were reported.
