Science Rendezvous, Canada’s largest public science festival takes over the University of Windsor this Saturday.

From the serious to the quirky, free events will take place in a variety of outdoor and indoor venues across Canada, engaging adults, families and youth in a day of fun and exploration.

There are over 20 activities being held, each one highlighting a different facet of scientific knowledge and fun. Hands-on displays from students, staff, and professors at the University, as well as entries by local high‐school students and clubs will appeal to a variety of interests. See robots play Frisbee! Isolate DNA from fruit! Just some of these events include BioArt, neuroscience and brain health display, solving mysteries using DNA and biotechnology, astronomy activities and Angry Birds. The Chemistry Magic Show (10am-11am) and the Phunky Physics Show (1pm-2pm) will be featured.  This year they will also host an Amazing Science Chase mimicking the popular TV show with prizes to be won.

“People of all ages are invited to engage with science by observing, doing or creating”, said Chitra Rangan, a professor at the University of Windsor and the Faculty Advisor for the student-run Science Rendezvous Windsor Organizing Committee. “Folks can discover cutting‐edge cancer research, enjoy art based on science, watch physics demonstrations, enjoy the Chemistry Magic Show ‐ there is something for everyone!”

Science Rendezvous Windsor will take place from 10am to 4pm on the University of Windsor campus in the Education Gym, right beside the CAW Student Centre.
