Willistead Park’s new asphalt pathways are taking shape after work began Friday morning.
The pathways were approved by Windsor City Council on March 17th, and will consist of a ten foot wide asphalt loop that will wind its way through the park.
Construction crews began paving early Friday and by noon most of the asphalt pathways had been added.
Residents group “Save Willistead Park” is still very much against the construction of paths.
On their Facebook page, residents have planned to meet up and walk around the park at 10am on Saturday morning.
Some “Save Willistead Park” group members have called for a boycott of Art in the Park, which takes place at Willistead Park next weekend, while group organizer Sara Venney said in a post that the group is “not calling for a boycott of AIP, and that neither am I.”
Along with the new pathways, crews have also installed improved drainage in the park.
Work is expected to be complete by late spring.
