After a major success of the first Windsor SOUP, it’s coming back this spring. Enactus Windsor and Pathway to Potential will present two more Sunday Soups on May 18th and June 29th.
With a donation of five dollars at the door, attendees receive soup, salad and a vote on which creative project they feel has the most potential to make a positive impact on the community. The kick off of Windsor SOUP on March 2nd was a hit, bringing approximately 170 community members together. “It was fantastic to see so many passionate people come together to contribute to the betterment of our community,” said Nick Jones, project manager of Windsor SOUP.
Ken Lori, who pitched the “Meetinghouse” for youth in the Glengarry-Marentette or Walkerville area, was able to persuade the voters and win the money. The $924.25 that was raised through donations at the door was generously matched by the P. & L. Odette Charitable Foundation, giving Lori $1,848.50 to get his idea off the ground. Lori was grateful for the support, saying that “The funds will help pay for the launch of our thrift store, café, recreation activities and performing arts program that incorporates plays written, directed and performed by teens.”
Windsor SOUP will be held at 6pm at the Walkerville Brewery. If you are interested in the chance to present at a future SOUP, you can download an application form by visiting the link here.
