Police in Amherstburg are trying to identify a vehicle involved in a hit and run.

Police say the crash took place on the 11th of April around 4:15pm at the intersection of Howard Ave and Alma Street.

Police say the suspect vehicle, described as being a newer silver truck (possibly a Chevrolet Silverado) with oversized tires, possible black roll bar in the bed of the truck, having white decals on the rear tinted windows, with one of the decals possibly being a large “H”, was travelling southbound on Howard at a high rate of speed.

At the same time a blue 1994 Oldsmobile Supreme driven by a 23 year old female from Harrow along with two friends, was also southbound on Howard in front of the truck and was stopped to turn eastbound on Alma St.

The silver truck then overtook the Oldsmobile on the left side at a high rate of speed at which time it side swiped the Oldsmobile causing damage to the driver’s side of the vehicle.

The silver truck then accelerated and continued southbound on Howard at a high rate of speed, failing to stop.

It is believed that the silver truck may have damage along the right side of the vehicle, including the front right tire and rim area.

Anyone with information is asked to call the Amherstburg Police Service (519) 736-2252, or call Crime Stoppers (519) 258-8477.
