Some major renovations are planned at Century Secondary school as it prepares to welcome students from J.L. Forester Secondary School this fall.
The Public School Board will be asked to approve an estimated $2,494,398 in renovations to the newly named Westview Freedom Academy at a board meeting tonight.
Renovations include accommodating program needs for the two blended schools as well as work to upgrade the cafeteria, library and the gym to make it more inviting.
The paint booth located behind the school — which has not been used in 20 years — will be torn down to allow for more parking.
Upgrades will also be made to the school’s fire alarm system at a cost of $247,082.
Renovations are planned to start in May with the bulk of the work taking place over the summer, with a substantial work completed by August 15th with occupancy set for September.
J.L. Forster closes in June.
