Residential Streets Ploughing And Salting Update

Hello time traveller!!

The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

When will your residential street be ploughed and salted?

The city says plough and salt crews started making their way onto residential streets around noon.

The cold temperatures will weaken the impact salt will have, so drivers are asked to use extra caution, especially approaching intersections.

Wherever possible, vehicles should be removed from roads to provide plough drivers with unobstructed access.

Residents are reminded that sidewalks abutting their property are their responsibility to clear. As well, under the Highway Traffic Act and City of Windsor By-laws, residents are prohibited from shovelling snow back onto the street while clearing sidewalks and driveways, as this creates unsafe road conditions for motorists.

Any calls to 311 requesting ploughing should be delayed until late tomorrow, when crews expect to have covered all areas.
