Twenty-year-old Katrina Kryza has been crowned Miss Windsor 2013 following an intense competition at the Capitol Theatre, Saturday night.
Windsor’s first namesake beauty pageant in eight years, the Miss Windsor Pageant, saw seven young women compete for the top spot, along with six teens competing for Miss Teen Windsor.
Contestants competed in sportswear, swimsuit, evening wear and Q&A competitions.
Last weekend, contestants participated in simulated ‘job interviews’ with four judges. Organizers say the experience was designed to prepare them for the job search and interview process in the working world.
Contestants were also asked to choose a charity of choice and raise funds.
Event Director Maurizio Tiberia says the girls surpassed a minimum goal of $100 each and raised over $5000. “We [had] one contestant that raised over $1000 plus donated 1000 homemade pierogies to her charity of choice.”
“Another contestant collected over 1000 food items in addition to cash for a local food bank.”
