Baby Emma from Windsor is battling a highly aggressive, rare cancer called atypical teratoid rhabdoid tumor, or AT/RT, and a local ice cream parlour is stepping in to help this Saturday.
Sunset Ice Cream & Gifts in LaSalle is hosting Ice Cream For Emma this Saturday. The shop says all proceeds will be donated to baby Emma’s family, who are by her side at Toronto’s Sick Kids Hospital.
AT/RT is a rare type of tumour that affects the central nervous system in children.
Sunset Ice Cream & Gifts says the family is “overwhelmed with the out pouring of love and support from the community” and a $500 cheque was given in support by one of the store’s customers.
The fundraising event takes place this Saturday September 7th from 12pm to 7pm at Sunset Ice Cream & Gifts, 2211 Front Road in LaSalle.
