The Town of Tecumseh has moved another step further to developing a park on the site of the former Lakewood Golf Course Property.
In 2010, the town acquired the 65 acre property, with the intention to create a special place that showcases the natural site features and cultural heritage of Tecumseh, and to provide a unique place for community functions and recreation opportunities for persons of all ages.
In February 2012 DIALOG was retained by the Town to undertake a first phase of work on the development of big ideas and a preliminary illustrative concept plan for the Park. An imperative part of the process involved the hosting of a series of visionary workshops to provide opportunity for the community to participate and provide input into potential features and uses for the Park.
Town Council approved the Lakewood Park South Design Concept at the September 24, 2013 Regular Council Meeting.
The approval of the Design Concept marks the end of Phase One of the preparation of a Master Plan for the Park. Tecumseh Administration will now begin to finalize the Master Plan for the Park. The Master Plan will be phased in as funding and grant opportunities become available.
The Design Concept is available for viewing on the Town’s website here.
