Volunteers are needed to held the Town of Essex at the Hutchins Family Cemetery near Colchester for a Pioneer Cemetery Clean-up Day.
The Hutchins Family Pioneer Cemetery is a Town-owned, heritage designated historic property that is in dire need of maintenance. The plan is to spend a half day on Thursday cleaning up brush and weeds from the cemetery and access pathway.
The Hutchins Cemetery is located south of Country Road 50 West, in Colchester South. It is located in a wooded area just west of Cornwall Beach Road. Volunteers may park their cars on the west side of Cornwall Beach Road.
You are asked to bring a hat, gloves, water, bug spray, sunscreen, pants or long sleeves to prevent contact with weeds or grass. Volunteers are also asked to bring lawn/garden tools to assist with trimming weeds and improving the look of the property.
The clean up starts at 10am. Refreshments will be provided for all volunteers.
