A location formerly occupied by Blockbuster Video will soon be the home to a popular American pizza chain location.
Papa John’s will be opening a franchisee-owned location at 3392 Dougall in Windsor.
The company prides itself on fresh, never frozen, original dough, vine-ripened tomatoes “grown in the fertile valleys of central California and packed within an average of six hours after harvesting” and fresh veggies sliced in-restaurant.
This is Papa John’s second time in Windsor. The company originally began an expansion to Canada in 2000. Three locations were opened in Windsor and Tecumseh, but all three eventually closed.
The parent company announced a program to accelerate Canadian store growth in January. Restaurants opening in Canada in 2013 were told they will not have to pay a $25,000 franchisee opening fee and will receive up to 30 months of reduced royalty payments.
“We are proud to offer this Development Incentive Program to help our franchisees grow with us and deliver our ‘Better Ingredients. Better Pizza.’ to an increasing number of consumers throughout Canada.” said John Schnatter, Papa John’s Founder, Chairman and CEO.
Renovations to the former Blockbuster store began two months ago and work to build the Papa John’s location is nearing completion.
