Derelict

An abandoned home on Albert Street in Ford City is set to meet the wrecking ball after the city issued a demolition order.

The house located at 969 Albert has been vacant since May 2012. Since then the city has responded seven times to dirty yard complaints and orders were issued to cut the grass and clean up the debris. The owner of the property did not comply to those orders, and contractors were brought into clean up the property.

The city inspection unit attended the address on May 13th of this year and an assessment of the building was completed. As a result of that assessment, it was found that the building had deteriorated beyond the point where it was no longer economical viable for structure repair.

A demolition order was issued on May 15th with a deadline of June 13th. No appeals were received and the demolition will now move ahead.
