UPDATE: (ESSEX, ON) – First Responders and Essex County Agencies continue to assess the flooding in Lucier Estates, Essex. The Essex County Conservation Authority are expecting Sukker Creek to crest at 4:00pm. First Responders are continuing to go door-to-door to check the status of the residents and provide the appropriate assistance. There is no mandatory evacuation at this time, and residents are choosing to “shelter in place” or be assisted out of the sub-division.
Any parents who have school age children are being advised that the school buses will be dropping off the students at the McGregor Community Centre located at 9751 Walker Rd, Essex (McGregor), and they can pick up their children at this location.
Original story:
A subdivision in McGregor is currently under four feet of water following last night’s storms.
Residents of Lucier Estates are being assisted by police and fire.
The westbound 401 is currently closed at the Provincial Road County Rd 46 exit. Motorists are asked to exit the 401 at the Puce Rd or Manning Rd exits.
The road closure is for public safety due to flooding in the area of the 401 that is under construction around the old North Talbot overpass which has experienced approximately 3-4ft of flooding, and pumps have failed to keep up with the excessive rainfall.
The 401 is expected to be closed until 10am while MTO and construction crews attempt to remedy the flooding.
