The University of Windsor’s new multi-level parking garage is heading into the finishing stages in preparation for its September opening.
Newton Parking Structures Ltd started building the parking garage and adjoining Innovation Centre last July.
The parking garage will consist of 1,055 spaces and displaced an existing Faculty and Staff surface lot. Two separate buildings will be constructed as part of the complex and will be connected by a second-storey pedestrian bridge from the Innovation Centre to the parking structure.
The Innovation Centre will front Wyandotte West and will become the new home of Campus Community Police, Parking Services and other campus services. A new WFCU branch will also open there in January.
Once complete, several parking lots on campus will then be closed, and more green space will be added to the campus.
