Volunteers are needed to help plant 150 trees in the proposed Cedar Creek Provincial Park this Saturday, May 4th from 2pm to 4pm.
In total, approximately 24 acres of Carolinian forest habitat will be restored as part of this partnership project between the Essex Region Conservation Authority and Ontario Parks.
Entrance to the planting area is located on 3rd Concession, approximately ½ km west of County Road 23/Arner Townline and 7 kms east of Harrow. Volunteers are encouraged to wear boots and long pants, and to dress for the weather.
“Planting native trees and vegetation in the farm field area will add to the natural habitat areas of the park,” explained Caroline Biribauer, ERCA’s Community Outreach Coordinator. “High school students can earn community service hours if they volunteer.” Shovels and gloves will be provided to all volunteers, and a light barbecue will follow the planting.
Interested volunteers should please RSVP to Caroline at [email protected] or 519-776-5209, ext. 245.
