There is no cause for alarm after a loud explosion was heard in West Windsor.

Firefighters responded to the Plains Midsteam Windsor Storage Terminal (previously a BP facility which was sold by BP to NGL assets in 2012) on Matchette Road after dozens of reports of heavy smoke and fire were made. Smoke could be seen as far away as Tecumseh and Lauzon.

Windsor Fire arrived and reported that the fire was actually a controlled fire at the facility and there was no danger.

Crews determined that a safety feature on the piping system released pressure causing the fire and smoke.
