Burnt-Out Elliott Street House To Be Demolished

Hello time traveller!!
This article is 4014 days old.
The information listed below is likely outdated and has been preserved for archival purposes.

A duplex that was destroyed by fire last June should be demolished soon.

The owners of 304 Elliott Street West applied for a permit to demolish the building in September, but the home falls under the city’s demolition control bylaw and the permit can not be issued without council approval.

The city assessed the property in January and determined that it could not be repaired and issued a demolition order on January 24th. The owner can not comply with the order until City Council approves the permit.

Should the owner not demolish the building once approved in a timely manor, then the city will move to demolish it themselves and charge those costs to the property taxes.
