There is no stopping the train. The Windsor Express’ final regular season weekend kicked off with a bang Friday night at the WFCU Centre. They won their 6th straight game after rallying back against the St. John Mill Rats 104-95.

Kevin loiselle had 17 points and 10 rebounds, Mike Helms scored 18 points, and Darren Duncan had 18 points and 9 assists for Windsor.

Also scoring high for the Express were Greg Surmacz (12 points, 12 assists), Stefan Bonneau (15 points), and Chris Commons (14 points, 6 rebounds, 5 assists).

While Windsor had built a significant lead in the first, St. John began to close the gap. Within the last five minutes of the quarter, the St. John Mill Rats went 4 for 4 with their 3-pointers. After one, the Express’ lead was narrowed to 8 points.

The Mill Rats continued to claw back late in the first half. They cut Windsor’s lead to just 5 points before the end of the quarter with a last-second 3-point shot. The Express were up 49-44 at half.

In the third, St. John went ahead and took over. A big block by Loiselle allowed the Express to come back and tie the game. However, another late 3-pointer by the Mill Rats gave them the lead once more.

Back and forth in the fourth quarter, the teams fought for the advantage. Late in the quarter though, the Express grabbed the lead – and held on. With one minute to go, Duncan set up Loiselle for a slamming alley-oop dunk. Windsor went on to win 104-95 over St. John.

Windsor’s last regular season game is Saturday night when they face the Oshawa Power at the WFCU Centre.
