A splash pad is in the works for Captain Wilson park located on Ducharme Street east of the Sixth Concession Road adjacent to Talbot Trail School.
The park already features soccer pitches, a playground area, sports court, walking trail, public washrooms, shelter, trees and benches, accessible play area, plus a parking area.
Monday night, City Council will be asked to approve the addition of a splash pad to the park, something that received great interest from the community during park open houses.
Total cost would be $845,721.66 and that includes the splash pad, a washroom building, landscaping, and hydro and water hook ups.
The park is named in honour of fire Captain John Wilson who died February 1955, three hours after rescuing a child from a burning house. He suffered heart failure due to smoke inhalation.
