Enactus Windsor, a student-run organization at the Odette School of Business, is holding a collaborative e-waste collection event in conjunction with CAW Local 200’s Computers for Kids program at Sobeys in Tecumseh, this Saturday from 9am to 3pm.
Enactus Windsor volunteers will be stationed at the drop-off station located in the Sobeys parking lot at 19 Amy Croft Drive, where they will transfer donations to collection bins for refurbishing. Donated computers will have their software fully removed in order to protect donor privacy.
“Most people have e-waste laying around their house collecting dust,” says event organizer Leesa Farah. “The collection day offers a chance for members of the community to dispose of such electronics while also supporting the Computers for Kids charity in refurbishing electronics for underprivileged children. It’s hard to believe that there are children without access to these crucial resources. Our goal is to turn old electronics into new opportunities for these children. ”
Farah says the last collection day was so successful it broke Computers for Kids’ record for largest collection in a one day event. She knows our community can do it again and encourages everyone to take part in this collection day!
Computers for Kids recycles unwanted computers, keyboards, televisions, telephones and other electronic equipment into educational tools for community youth in need. For more information on what can be donated contact Computers for Kids or Leesa Farah at (519) 890-6132.
