Nerd Nite, which takes place in a host of cities throughout the globe, is coming to Windsor on Wednesday.
Learning is much more fun when you’re drinking with friends and colleagues. Thus, Nerd Nite is a monthly event held in more than 50 cities across the globe during which several folks give 18-21-minute fun-yet-informative presentations across all disciplines – while the audience drinks along.
The event strives for a somewhat inebriated, fully affable, and marginally academic vibe. It offers short, lively presentations on a variety of topics and is designed to stimulate interest in the weird and wonderful. You can learn more online here.
The first local Nerd Nite will include talks on mathematical narratives, Bill C-11 and copyright culture, bananas in contemporary art and politics, birding, and much, much more, from:
Matthew Caron, resident legal consultant
Ashley Girty, cultural theorist
Reg Robson, math teacher
Laura Southcott, bird expert
Courtney Steel, mysterious genius
Ryan Williams, international policy guru
The night takes place at Phog Lounge on University Avenue West in Downtown Windsor starting at 9pm on Wednesday.
