Leave The Pack Behind is a comprehensive, age-tailored, tobacco control initiative for young adults on post-secondary campuses that uses evidence-based, age-tailored tobacco control strategies to successfully reduce tobacco use among older youth and young adults on post-secondary campuses.

Leave The Pack Behind is now established on all 20 universities and all 24 applied arts colleges in Ontario with a total potential reach of Leave The Pack Behind is currently just over 599,000 students, representing approximately 155,000 smokers.

The Leave the Pack Behind contest wouldurather… is open to all registered students at publically funded post-secondary institutions in Ontario. To be eligible, registration for each eligible contestant must be completed by 11:59pm on January 27th.

The eligibility for each contest category is as follows:

1) Quit For Good: Contestants in the Quit For Good category must (i) meet the general eligibility criteria for the wouldurather… contest; (ii) have used tobacco (defined as: cigarettes, cigarellos, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff, and/or snus) at least every other day in the month prior to registration.

2) Keep The Count: Contestants in the Keep The Count category must (i) meet the general eligibility criteria for the wouldurather… contest; (ii) have used tobacco (defined as: cigarettes, cigarellos, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff, and/or snus) at least every other day in the month prior to registration.

3) Party Without The Smoke: Contestants in the Party Without The Smoke category must (i) meet the general eligibility criteria for the wouldurather… contest; (ii) have used tobacco (defined as: cigarettes, cigarellos, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff, water pipes and/or snus) and/or have used tobacco alternatives (defined as: marijuana or shisha) at least once in the month prior to registration.

4) Don’t Start and Win: Contestants in the Don’t Start and Win category must (i) meet the general eligibility criteria for the wouldurather… contest; (ii) have not used tobacco (defined as: cigarettes, cigarellos, cigars, pipes, chewing tobacco, snuff, water pipes and/or snus) in the month prior to registration.
