This Christmas season, members of the Essex County OPP have personally donated funds to sponsor families in each of the five municipalities in which they serve. This is an annual tradition that has been going on for the past seven years. A deserving family is identified by Victim Services or The Children’s Aid Society, and the officers and civilian staff unselfishly contribute personal funds or gifts to surprise these families who may be struggling in life.
This year, approximately $5000 worth of gifts, gift cards and food vouchers were purchased and delivered by the staff to five families in need. Plus an additional $8000 worth of toys donated to the Children’s Ward at our local Hospital.
“The other members of the Essex County Detachment Command Staff and I are very proud of the OPP officers, civilians and auxiliary members that form part of this detachment. The work being done in and for our communities is clearly remarkable and this is simply another example of their strong desire to help others.” Inspector Glenn Miller.
