Bike Friendly Workplace Awards Honour Cycling Friendly Employers

The Bike Friendly Workplace Awards were given to fourteen area workplaces this year.

These Awards recognized workplaces that supported employees who chose to commute to work by bicycle. Awards are given based on the workplace’s fulfillment of five unique bike friendly categories for their worksites.

The workplace must support cycling to work through policy, promote cycling as a way to commute to work, provide educational materials or opportunities about cycling for their employees, provide facilities for cyclists such as bicycle racks,showers, and lockers and provide incentives for cyclists.

The Health Unit reports that 23,500 employees benefited from healthy workplace and bike friendly workplace initiatives this year in Windsor-Essex.
