New West End FreshCo Opens Thursday

Work to transform a west end plaza into a FreshCo store has come to an end and the new location is set to open later this week.

The FreshCo, located inside Huron Church’s former Zellers store which closed back at the end of June, has advanced steadily from a building shell to a full-fledged grocery store with food on the shelves.

The new store is located at the far south side of the plaza where the Zellers menswear department and restaurant existed. Construction crews completed the installation of exterior signs this week and truckloads of food have been brought in.

First Capital Realty, the owners of the plaza, are also working on a complete redevelopment of other adjoining units. Next door, signs have gone up in the windows of a future Dollar Tree, and popular discount electronics store XS Cargo will be moving in two units to the north of the FreshCo.

The new FreshCo, located near the intersection of Huron Church and Tecumseh West, opens Thursday October 25th at 8am.
