Forster Recommended for Closure in June 2014

At the Tuesday evening board meeting of the Greater Essex Country District School Board, the Director of Education Warren Kennedy presented his recommendations for the future of secondary education in west Windsor.
The recommendation presented is to close Forster Secondary School effective June 2014. Those students would be transferred to near by Century Secondary School in for the start of school in September 2014. The Forster building would then be declared surplus to the boards needs.
Some of the reasons outlined for closure include enrollment at Forster is predicted to drop in the next 15 years and be below 330 students, Century is handicap accessible where Forster is not, Century has air conditioning and has had major mechanical upgrades in the past ten years.
