BookFest Windsor is kicking off its second decade with a new writing contest titled BFW Bound.
“BookFest Windsor has held a successful children’s poetry contest for several years,” says Lenore Langs, Chair of the BookFest Windsor Committee. “BFW Bound gives university students and emerging adult writers a chance to participate directly in the festival.”
The contest is looking for new writers right from our region. BFW Bound will accept micro-fiction, micro creative non-fiction and poetry entries. Micro-fiction and micro creative non-fiction, a new media form of storytelling, are becoming staples of many respected online literary journals.
The contest runs from September 10th to October 5th. English-language entries of micro-fiction/creative non-fiction up to 250 words and poetry of up to 30 lines (including blanks) are eligible. Finalists will then compete in a live reading at Phog Lounge in downtown Windsor on October 20th. The top three finalists will open BookFest Windsor 2012 from the stage at The Capitol Theatre and Arts Centre in downtown Windsor on October 25th.
Top winner will also received complete set up and three printed copies of a self-publishing project from Windsor Public Library Self Publishing Unit.
Visit the BookFest Windsor website for complete rules, schedule information and online ticket information.
