The Windsor & Essex County Cancer Centre Foundation has put out a call to Windsorites asking them to donate a pair of jeans in honour of a loved one.
The initiative is part of the Foundation’s $4 million capital campaign It’s In Your Jeans aimed to raise awareness and dollars to fight prostate cancer and ensure the men in our community receive the most advanced and timely care possible.
“With September being Prostate Cancer Awareness Month, we wanted to enlist the community to honour the men in their lives by donating a pair of jeans and sharing their journey or experience with prostate cancer.” said Linda Andrejicka, Executive Director of the Foundation. The jeans and stories being collected will become a part of an art piece that will serve as a barometer of the funds raised for the campaign. The barometer will be permanently displayed at Windsor Regional Hospital, while stories will be posted on the campaign website.
Jean donation day will be held this Saturday from 10am to 6pm at Windsor Crossing between Reitman’s and the Tommy Hilfiger Outlet. Jeans should be neatly folded and submitted at the kiosk where donors can fill out a tag with details that states the person whose jeans are submitted with their name, age and information as to if they are or were a patient, family member or friend of someone with prostate cancer.
If you do not have jeans but still would like to support the campaign, the Foundation will also be accepting donations at the event.
