A part of EC Row Expressway (Highway 22) is still closed at this hour after a fatal two-vehicle crash claimed the life of one person.
An investigation has revealed that a blue Toyota Corolla was westbound during a sudden, brief, isolated heavy rainfall. The driver of the Toyota lost control and struck an eastbound black Dodge Caravan. Both vehicles erupted into flames. The 39 year old Windsor driver of the Caravan made it out of his vehicle safely. The driver of the Toyota, a 25 year old Windsor man, succumbed to injuries sustained by the crash while still inside his vehicle.
Tecumseh OPP say that despite initial reports, no other vehicles or people were involved in this crash and that it was a two-car collision only.
OPP say a witness attempted to rescue the driver of the Toyota numerous times, but was forced back due to the flames and high heat.
Police will not be releasing the identity of the driver at this time.
EC Row will remain closed between Lesperance Road and Manning Road until approximately 10pm.
