Two suspicious blazes over the weekend are being called cases of arson.
On Saturday morning, fire damaged two multi-unit houses in the 1000 block of Albert Street after burning for five hours. The main fire broke out around 5:45am. Several people were treated for smoke inhalation. Prior to the main fire, firefighters had responded to the same address only hours earlier for a wooden trailer on fire near the house. The fire was extinguished within minutes. windsoriteDOTca has learned that two additional fires took place in the 1000 block of Albert early Sunday morning: firefighters responded two separate times for a garbage on fire, and a matress on fire.

Fire investigators have confirmed that the “cause is incendiary for both the trailer and house fires”. Damage is pegged at a combined $200,000 for both damaged Albert Street houses.
Late Saturday night, fire broke out at a home in the 900 block of Rankin Avenue in the Bridgeview area. No one was injured as the house was empty at the time.

Investigators have determined that accelerant was used to spread the fire through “existing openings creating a fire in more than one location”.
The monetary damages to the house on Rankin have yet to be determined.
