Still hoping to find the source of the dreaded Windsor Hum? There’s now an App for that!
A local web developer — who didn’t want to be named — has developed a web app that can be used on smartphones such as iPhones, Blackberries and Android OS devices along with location-aware desktop browsers to log a user’s location and report the data to a public map.
The developer explains that the idea follows four steps:
- Bookmark and the App and use it when you hear the Hum
- The user’s “heard” GPS location is logged along with the time the user heard the Hum
- The site produces real-time maps of contributions including daily logging and month-to-date maps, and the developer plans to analyze the data to “find the proximity of the Windsor Hum
- The developer says “The site will evolve. I’m thinking I can capture the “level” of the sound and make markers a different colour where the Hum is really producing
