An important stretch of roadway near the University of Windsor will be repaired and repaved in time for the opening of the University’s new parking garage, if changes to a nearby project are approved at City Council next week.

University officials met with City of Windsor Administration to change plans to reconstruct and repave Sunset Avenue between Wyandotte and Union and switch them over to California Avenue.

Under the new plan, California between Wyandotte and College, which is presently in poor condition with outdated sewers and utilities, will be completed in time for the completion of the University’s new parking garage. The main access for the parking garage will be on California Avenue.

City Council is set to vote on approving the project switch next Monday.

Work will take place in 2013.
