Artcite’s Summer Art Fest Planned for Downtown Windsor

An exhibit from Visual Fringe 2011. Summer Art Fest replaces the Visual Fringe Festival this year.

Artcite Inc, Windsor’s Artist-run Centre for the Contemporary Arts presents Summer Art Fest 2012 this July and August.

Following in the footsteps of four previous Visual Fringe presentations for the Windsor International Fringe Festival, Summer Art Fest 2012, will invite Artists to team up with downtown Windsor businesses and/or placed in vacant storefront spaces to showcase their art works/site installations during the festival which runs from July 20th to August 4th.

This year they will be looking for site-specific storefront installations; process-oriented and time-based art projects, this means video, projection, sound, light, interactive sculpture – stuff that can be seen all day and night through a store window, as well as performance, and other non-traditional works.

Festival organizers will also consider traditional presentations: painting, drawing, sculpture, and photography, though space is limited.  They  are also seeking children’s workshop presenters for our Saturday July 28th afternoon-long sessions that coincide with the walking tours of the exhibitions.

There is no entry fee to participate.  Exhibition spaces will be allocated by the organizing committee, based on artists’ proposals and space availability.
