The Odette Sculpture Park along Windsor’s Western half of the riverfront trail will be getting a new name.
Under an agreement with the city, Mr. Louis Odette and the Odette Foundation on August 23rd, 2010 stated that the name shall remain the “Odette Sculpture Park”, unless either Odette or the foundation provide a written request to amend the name. The agreement stated that in such an event the city will have two years to name the park “Windsor Sculpture Park”
Recently the city received a request for this name change, and the city will begin to implement it. Even though the original agreement required the change to be complete within two years, the estate has requested it be done as soon as it can be effectively transitioned, and not take more then 12 months. The estate has agreed that funds from the Estate can be used to effect the name change.
The city must agree to this name change in order to receive a $50,000 a year for five years from the Estate, which will be matched by the City of Windsor each year and will improve the promotional aspects of the park such as a virtual tour or smartphone apps.
The “Odette Sculpture Park” will become the “Windsor Sculpture Park”.
