Value of Construction in Windsor in April Rises Mightily Over 2011

Construction permits issued in the City of Windsor is up for both April and the year in general.
In April, 17 building permits were issued for new home construction compared to 10 in April of 2011. For the year to date, 45 permits have been issued vs 28 last year. Total value of construction in April was $5,006,000 compared to $2,777,000 in April 2011.
On the commercial side of things, several projects got under way with a total value of $9,145,850 compared to April of 2011 where the total value was only $1,275,000.
Major projects that have had permits issued last month include renovations to the Zellers store at Devonshire Mall to convert it to a Target valued at $4,600,000. A new Lighting Boutique store on Walker Road is valued at $2,100,000. Site servicing for the new Family Aquatic Center came in at $300,000.
