A rescue effort for a male that went missing in Lake Erie after his boat capsized has now been converted to a recovery effort.
The Coast Guard discontinued their search at 2am and the Essex County OPP Marine Unit along with the OPP Underwater Search and Recover Unit has been deployed.
The USRU will be in the area this afternoon to begin an underwater search. Members of the OPP Emergency Response Team, and the Essex County K-9 unit are currently on foot and on ATV’s, patrolling the shore lines along Lake Erie and Point Pelee.
The missing male along with another male we out on a sailboat in Lake Erie 2 km off shore near Point Pelee National Park gates Monday when it capsized around 6pm. The two males were able to flip the boat upright, one male got back in, but the wind started to take the sailboat before the other male was able to get on the boat.
