Windsor firefighters rushed to the 600 block of Memorial Drive for reports of heavy smoke coming from a house shortly after 3pm this afternoon.

Firefighters arrived to find a garage fully engulfed in flames with fire spreading to a car parked behind it. Smoke could be seen across the city.

The fire was quickly extinguished and firefighters checked neighbouring houses for the spread of fire. Two neighbouring garages suffered minor fire damage. In the midst of the fire, there was uncertainty as to whether or not there was another garage fire a few blocks away. This turned out to be false.

Witnesses on scene described three young males as possibly having started the fire. Windsor Police are investigating. Damage is in the range of $50,000.
