Friday night, Spitfires and Devils fans alike cheered in unison. Shortly into game 6’s overtime period, Adam Henrique tapped in a loose puck as it lay in the crease behind New York Ranger goalie Henrik Lundqvist.

The New Jersey Devils kept pressure on the goalie, sending every shot his way. The puck bounced and scrambled in a crowd, before slipping past Lundqvist. Henrique saw the puck and pounced, sending his team to the Stanley Cup Finals. After his goal, much like he did in the Memorial Cup Championships in 2009, he threw himself into the glass as his teammates rushed to celebrate.

The goal marks Adam’s 3rd playoff goal. Coincidentally, he sent his team to the Eastern Conference Finals against New York in much of the same fashion: scoring the game 7 overtime winner against Florida back in round one. Adam received tonight’s first star.

Congratulations Adam!
