Over the lunch hour today, an OPP officer pulled over a speeding vehicle on highway #3 near Walker Road.
When the officer approached the vehicle she learned that the reason the driver was speeding was to get to the hospital, as his passenger had severed his middle finger.
The officer then quickly transferred the injured 29-year-old male from Amherstburg into her cruiser and transported him to Hotel Dieu Hospital where a doctor was waiting to perform surgery.
The male is currently in surgery as medical professionals attempt to re-attached the served finger. The injury happened when the man was at a friend’s house in Leamington doing some mechanical work on a motorcycle.
