“Can every Windsor musician and band fit on one sheet of paper? Many of them already have, but the sheet of paper is gargantuan.”
The Windsor Rock Wall hit the art scene with a bang! Opening reception was Saturday March 10th at the SB Contemporary Art Gallery and the final product was phenomenal. The rock wall depicted the visual landscape of bands that have hit the Windsor scene at one point in time. Drawing connections (literally) from one band to the other, the piece physically intertwines our very own music scene, and the result? It’s not as small and scarce as many would believe.
The show drew a diverse crowd with music and art lovers alike allowing people to contribute their knowledge and/or involvement throughout the exhibition.
“The collection of bands has been mistaken for a roadmap of some kind, and has been compared to a Windsor brain, with all of it’s musical synapses. It’s like a physical version of Facebook, for musicians…if it were visualized.” states Lucier.
Tom Lucier, one of the founding owners of Phog Lounge, spear-headed this idea with a simple piece of paper that grew too big to be contained at Phog, landing its new home this past weekend at the SB Contemporary Art Gallery.
So if you missed the 4 day showing or haven’t passed by Phog Lounge in the last few months you can check it out for yourself! Plans are in progress to digitally archive the piece, making it available online for all to scroll through and interact. For more information on the showing please visit the Phog Lounge website and the SB Contemporary Art Gallery for upcoming exhibitions.
Rock on Windsor! Rock on!
