As construction progresses on the W-E Parkway, the number of lane and road closures increase.
Here is an updated list of all current construction activities:
- The shoulder of westbound Highway 3 in the area of Howard Avenue will be closed from March 15th for approximately two weeks while crews work on the traffic diversion.
- The right-hand lane of westbound Huron Church Road from the Cabana/Todd intersection to Labelle Street is closed as of March 14th for approximately two and a half months while crews work to construct traffic diversions (D2 and D3).
- The eastbound lane of Pulford Street between Northway Avenue and California Avenue is closed as of March 14th for one month while crews conduct electrical work.
- The northbound lane of California Avenue between Norfolk Street and Pulford Street is closed as of March 14th for one month while crews conduct electrical work.
Prescribed Burns Planned:
The Windsor-Essex Parkway will provide more than 300 acres (120 hectares) of green space. The green space will feature an overall Carolinian theme, focusing on protection and expansion of Tallgrass Prairie and Oak Savannah habitats. Prescribed burns – deliberately set, carefully controlled and closely monitored fires – are the most effective management tool for Tallgrass Prairie maintenance, conservation and restoration. Prescribed burns are carried out on a regular basis on prairie areas throughout Windsor and Essex County.
Parkway Infrastructure Constructors, on behalf of the Ministry of Transportation, will conduct prescribed burns of Tallgrass Prairie areas in the vicinity of Chappus Street between Matchette Road and Malden Road and the Oakwood Bush. The burns must be completed by April 10, 2012.
