The Odette Sculpture Garden may be getting major promotional improvements if City Council approves matching funds from a donation, at council tonight.
The late Louis Odette — for which the Odette School of Business at the University of Windsor is named — a philanthropist that has contributed many thousands of dollars to the community over the years, and along with brother Edmond, the principal founders of the Odette Sculpture Garden, has given the City of Windsor $250,000 for improvements to the park as part of his will.
The donation, a $50,000 a year for five years must be matched by the City of Windsor each year and will improve the promotional aspects of the park (suggested ideas include a virtual tour, smartphone apps), will establish “bus tours from other cities” and additional money is set aside to be used at the discretion of the City for the garden (suggestions include a Sculpture Festival).
