Twenty Five years after his Man In Motion World Tour, and in recognition of his 25th Anniversary Relay, which will re-create the Canadian-portion of his original Tour, one man in motion will be represented and celebrated by many in motion, as 7,000 participants from across Canada who have made their own difference in the lives of others will walk, wheel or run in the Rick Hansen Relay when it enters today in Ottawa, and concludes on May 22, 2012 in Vancouver, British Columbia.

The 25th Anniversary Relay will  pass through Windsor on November 22, 2011.

“The City of Windsor applauds the ongoing efforts and infectious spirit of Rick Hansen, as 25 years later he is still committed to a more accessible and inclusive world.  We are pleased to be part of the Rick Hansen 25th Anniversary Relay, and I encourage all residents to attend the end of day celebration at the WFCU Centre and be part of the crowd on November 22 to show our support for this significant milestone and journey through Windsor,” said Mayor Eddie Francis.

On August 23rd Mayor Eddie Francis announced that the final community medal bearer would be Ray Grassi.

The relay enters McHugh Street from Lauzon Road to the WFCU Centre.  The official opening ceremony in the main bowl  will be followed by live entertainment, a scrimmage sledge hockey game between the Ice Bullets and Windsor Spitfire Alumni, as well as  a free skate to the public and a trade show in the walkway.

The event is free with designated accessible parking available.  The event runs from 5:00 pm – 8:30 pm.
