This Sunday, the Essex County OPP will be hosting a car seat clinic at Tecumseh Fire Hall located at 985 Lesperance Road in Tecumseh from 11:30 am to 1:30 pm.
Motorists are encouraged to bring their child restraints and children to the free car seat clinic in order to properly evaluate if the child restraint is appropriate and if it is properly installed.
The OPP report that seat belt and Child restraint systems have been proven time and time again to reduce the number of deaths and serious injuries in a motor vehicle collision.
Effective December 1, 2006, in Ontario, every person travelling in a motor vehicle must wear a seat belt or use a child safety seat. The penalty for seat belt infractions is a fine between $60 and $500. Convicted offenders will receive two demerit points.
