Eire Wildlife Rescue has been in operation since 1978 and had operated out of its own building located at 875 Chappus Street until the MTO bought it out for the new Windsor Essex Parkway. Since January 1st it has been operating out of a temporary location, and is now looking to move to a permanent home at Malden Park.
The proposal is for an area just inside the main gate near the visitors center. The site currently has a parks service building and a quonset hut.
The new building to be constructed will be 8,000 square feet and will be paid for with the settlement they have received from the MTO for the sale of their former location. They will pay a yearly rent of $1000.00, for 99 years. When the lest expires the buildings will become city property.
