Kicking off with a real bang at the annual Target Fireworks display, Transit Windsor launched their new promotion “The Bus Stops Here” Giveaway.  The contest which runs from from June 27th through to August 1st, will see Transit Windsor is give away ten “Ride Free for a Year” Bus Passes.

“We are very excited about this new contest, and this is going to be a lot of fun!” says Councillor Bill Marra, Chair of Transit Windsor Board of Directors. “We’re kicking off the contest as a high profile way to announce our new fare structure, which will be in place this summer.”

The The Bus Stops Here Giveaway is running in partnership with Devonshire Mall, which is the location where participants can drop off completed ballots. “Devonshire Mall is one of our biggest route destinations,” says Penny Williams, Transit Windsor General Manager, “so it’s a natural partnership. We are so pleased that Devonshire has come on board and agreed to place the ballot drum in their centre.”

The contest was launched at the annual Target Fireworks on Monday night, with information pieces and ballots distributed to riders of the free shuttle from Devonshire Mall. “We thought the shuttle was a great opportunity to communicate with our regular riders, as well as people who don’t ride the bus as often,” explains Williams. “With more than 10,000 riders on the free shuttle service Fireworks Night, it seemed like a perfect time to get the message out to as many people as possible.”

The The Bus Stops Here Giveaway runs through to August 1st, and ballots are available for download by visiting a specially commissioned website. All completed ballots must be dropped off at Devonshire Mall, at the Guest Services Centre near the Cineplex Odeon. Ballots are also available at the Transit Windsor Downtown Terminal and at Devonshire Mall’s Guest Services Centres. Ten winning ballots will be drawn and each winner will receive a “Ride Free for a Year” Bus Pass, allowing them unlimited rides for a year on Transit Windsor buses (excluding the Tunnel Bus).

“This contest is open to everyone, and we encourage you to enter often,” says Marra. “These Bus Passes are valued at up to $948.00 each, so we expect to see lots of entries!”
