Early Friday morning, Adriano Ciotoli and his wife came across a beagle wandering Southwood Lakes alone while visiting friends.
Ciotoli, WindsorEats.com co-owner and social media master, knew what to do right away.
With nearly 4000 Facebook fans of his guide to Windsor restaurants, Ciotoli took to Windsor’s online community to try and locate the dog’s owner. Adriano and his wife Jillian took the dog in for the night, posted a picture of his face on WindsorEats’ Facebook, and waited for this social media success story to come true.
Twenty-four hours later, a fan of WindsorEats named Mary commented on the lost dog picture and knew of a family whose beagle had recently gone missing in the Southwood Lakes area. Phone numbers were exchanged, and the Ciotoli’s met up with the dog’s owners at 2am this morning.
“[The owner] let out a huge sigh of relief,” Ciotoli says. “The dog bolted out of the car when it saw them. They have two kids that apparently were pretty upset as well.”
“Auggie” was reunited with his owners, and the power of Facebook proved more effective than a poster on lightpost!
Windsor recently hosted it’s own Social Media meetup, and we here at windsoriteDOTca use social networking sites every day to bring news and information to the community.
If you have a lost or found pet, don’t hesitate to send us a news tip, post on our Facebook Wall or enlist the help of Food Gurus and pet rescuers themselves, WindsorEats.
