At its last meeting, the Windsor Bicycling Committee made a recommendation that bike lanes and bike parking posts be included in both Wyandotte East and Wyandotte West beautification projects. The City of Windsor during its budget deliberations made it a priority to beautify both ends of this busy road.
Monday evening, the Wyandotte East project came before council and it made no mention of bike lanes or parking posts. Councillor Halberstadt asked if any consideration was placed on adding bike lanes as this section of roadway is part of the bicycle master plan.
City Engineer Mario Sango told council that this was only a beautification project and that in order to accommodate bike lanes, the curb lines would have to be expanded. Councillor Halberstadt asked of the medians could be made smaller than and Don Saddler from parks said that they were already narrow enough.
There are no plans to increase the curb lines in this section of Wyandotte in the near future.
