Fatal Boat Crash Victims Positively Identified

The Essex County Ontario Provincial Police Criminal Investigation Unit continues to investigate the circumstances leading up to a fatal boat crash that occurred on Sunday June 5th.
The OPP Crime Unit assisted by the OPP Underwater Search and Recovery Unit located the bodies of three victims on June 6th , 2011 that were involved in the collision.
They have been positively identified as Sarah Burns 30 years of age, Danny Monteiro 32 years of age and Andrew Comrie 33 years of age. All three were from Leamington.
As well, a 36-year-old woman from Leamington, who was also on the vessel, remains in hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Another female passenger, 31-years of age from Alberta was treated for her injury and released.
“Our hearts go out to the families of those who have lost loved ones in this terrible collision. We are committed to finding out the cause of this collision and finding ways to prevent similar tragedies from occurring.” said Detachment Commander Inspector R. Derus.
Members of the OPP Technical Collision Investigation continue to support the Criminal Investigation Unit.
